Thomas Beatty of North Carolina born 1813

I will start my first post with what I am working on now and what I have found today.  It isn't an interesting story, because I don't know much about him yet.  I have been searching for information on my Beatty line for a long time, but have never focused my efforts on it.  I did focus on it today by doing a little research on Thomas Beatty, father of Walter C. Beatty.  Thomas was born in about 1814 in North Carolina, according to the federal census.  He seems to have died between 1857 and 1860 since his youngest daughter was born in about 1857 and he does not appear on the 1860 census with his wife and children, nor anywhere else that I can find.  Nor does he appear on the 1870 census and his wife, Mary, had no other children after 1857.  Thomas married a woman named Mary, although what her maiden name is, I am not sure.  I have been told by others that her name was Mary Wishaun, born in 1815 in Germany.  However, no one has ever documented this for me or told me where the information came from.  On every census I have her on, she is listed as born in North Carolina, and I can find no information yet on a Mary Wishaun born in 1815 in Germany.  Today, however, I did find that Lincoln County, North Carolina was settled by a Beatty family, with the patriarch of that family being John Beatty.  He had a son named Thomas, but this Thomas was dead by the 1780s.  I feel that it is quite likely that we are linked to this family, but as of yet I cannot make the connection.  I know my Thomas Beatty lived in North Carolina until the early 1840s when he had a child there, but he was living in Missouri by 1850.  The search continues and hopefully I can make the connection soon.  The John Beatty family bears many of the names from our family, so I hope that I can figure it out soon.
